Twenty five motorhomes rolled into Omagh for what turned out to be another enjoyable rally.  While the weather gods treated us to more grey skies than sunshine, they couldn’t dampen the good spirits of our members, who were determined to make the most of the weekend. A big thank you goes to our hosts, Thelma & David, together with co-hosts Maud & Mervyn, whose hard work, organisation and warm welcome ensured everything ran like clockwork. Your efforts were very much appreciated by everyone. Friday night, the ever popular bingo session once again proved that luck can be as unpredictable as the weather! There were plenty of laughs, a little friendly rivalry and, of course, a few members convinced the caller (Jacqueline) had somehow missed their winning number. Following Bingo one of our resident DJs Bill provided us with an excellent selection of background music, with many members enjoying the opportunity to socialise. There was plenty to keep members occupied on Saturday with some enjoying a leisurely stroll around the shops in Omagh, returning with a few bargains – and, no doubt, a few purchases that “just happened” to find their way into the motorhome. Several Members visited the Omagh Agricultural Show, where there was something for everyone, from impressive livestock and machinery to crafts, trade stands and local produce. Others travelled to the Ulster American Folk Park to join in the Independence Day Celebrations, enjoying the colourful re-enactments music and displays that brought history to life. On Saturday evening we were delighted to welcome Steve Farlow who provided an evening of live entertainment that had those present dancing the night away. During the interval we had a raffle and auction for the Chairman’s Charity.  A special thank you to Peter for doing an excellent job as our auctioneer. His enthusiasm and good humour helped make the auction both entertaining and successful. We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to David for generously donating “Sam the Ram” for the auction.  Thanks to the generosity of everyone who bid so enthusiastically, a wonderful sum of money was raised for the Chairman’s Charity. Your support is greatly appreciated and will make a real difference. We had a few birthday highlights this weekend as Caryn celebrated her birthday on Friday, Mac the dog was 15 on Saturday and we wish David a happy birthday for Thursday. On Sunday morning, our Chairman thanked the hosts for their hard work, acknowledging the time and effort they had put into ensuring the rally was enjoyed by all.  Members were reminded of the forthcoming rallies and encouraged to support these events, with details of the upcoming programme highlighted. The weekend concluded with the customary number plate draw won by Norman & Lynette, Robert & Violet, also reward vouchers were given to Arlene & Harry, Thelma & David, Diane and Tommy. As always, it wasn’t the weather that made the weekend – it was the friendship laughter and companionship that make our rallies so special.  Thank you to everyone who attended and helped make the Omagh Rally another great success.
