A Fantastic Halloween Weekend at Halloween Oakgrove Integrated Primary School This weekend we were warmly welcomed by our hosts at Oakgrove Integrated Primary School with 35 vans attending. Although no school hall was available there was certainly no shortage of entertainment, with plenty happening across the city. The famous Halloween Parade and spectacular fireworks display were all within easy walking distance just across the Peace Bridge. Friday night saw entertainment of all kinds, some families headed into the city to enjoy the festivities while other opted for a quieter evening watching the final of The Traitors. We were also delighted to receive an invitation to Glendermott Cricket Club where everyone was encouraged to get into the Halloween spirit. It was a great opportunity to let your hair down, dress up and have some fun. There were some absolutely fantastic costumes definitely a brilliant effort all round. Saturday night brought another day of city entertainment but first the big breakfast at the Legion proved a huge hit attracting a large crowd and setting everyone up nicely for the day ahead. There was plenty of socialising around the vans with a lovely community atmosphere and even the children enjoyed a game of football. Later the youngsters headed off trick or treating with great success and plenty of treats gathered. As evening approached some made their way into the city to enjoy the large parade and fireworks display. Back locally the Halloween costumes made another fabulous appearance and the entertainment continued at both venues. Steve Farlow was in situ at the Legion while a DJ kept things lively at the cricket club. It was certainly a late one with plenty of laughter music and Halloween fun to round off a fantastic day. Coffee on Sunday morning finished with the Chairman’s remarks about future events. Birthday wishes were given to Voilet and Mary plus congratulations to Maud and Mervyn on their wedding anniversary. The number plate draw was won by Maud and Sheila. A brilliant weekend all round full of friendship fun fabulous costumes and wonderful hospitality. A big thank-you to everyone who helped to make so memorable. Sheila Beattie
