RALLY REPORT AT SPERRIN INTEGRATED COLLEGE MAGHERAFELT 27th - 29th May 2022

All 51 vans were greeted with a very warm welcome by our hosts Sandra, Vic and their little helpers ably assisted by Doreen & Jim as we arrived in Magherafelt on a glorious Friday evening.

Everyone was escorted to their pitch for the weekend with courtesy and a joke which got everyone in a relaxed mood. After getting settled in and the necessary things done such as kettle on, cans open etc. we got sorted out for the Friday night entertainment.  I think we would all agree that entertained we were, whether through the “swing-hip-swing” game you were swinging your dogs, raccoons or what every else was swinging the contestants have to be congratulated for the effort they all put into each game. The Friday night was rounded of by a selection of much appreciated music by the resident DJ Gary.

We all awoke to another glorious day on Saturday and headed to the Craft Fair and were treated to a beautiful display for jams, paintings, knitting, woodcraft, bric a brack and needle craft. Congratulations to everyone who participated. The children also were catered for with colouring and crafts. The remainder of the day was spent relaxing or for those who needed to off load some money shopping in Magherafelt.

Saturday evening we all made our way to the main hall where we were entertained by “Clearwater”. Line dancing, waltzing, jiving and a lot more was performed with great enthusiasm. It was also a night for celebrating birthdays with congratulations to Jenny Smith and Jim Bothwell (who didn’t want anyone to know his age but he will be 76 next year). Every one waited with expectation as the raffle was carried out under the watchful eye of George and Evie.

As we all made our way out of our motorhomes on Sunday morning we were greeted by even more sunshine (yes three days in a row) thankyou hosts. All made their way to the school for our traditional “Coffee Morning” and were spoiled with birthday cake. The quiz and number plate draws took place with the winners being: - Quiz Jenny Smith; Number Plate: - David McFadden & Phillip Cardwell.

As rallies go it always takes a mixture of certain things to make it a good weekend. This week end we had an abundance of all the ingredients i.e. brilliant weather, brilliant people and outstanding hosts. It was great for us all to meet up with friends old and new. Also to enjoy the excitement of those members who were out in their new motorhomes. A big thanks to our hosts Sandra, Vic, little helpers, Doreen, Jim who were ably assisted throughout by Diane & George and Elena & David.
