Thursday 13th saw most of us arrive at at the Irvinestown ‘Lady of the Lake’ weekend where we where welcomed by our hosts Lesley & Paul Rixon assisted by Sam Arlow & Andy Clarke. A total of 36 vans attended over the 4 day event.

Thursday afternoon  at 3:00pm we had the Tea Dance in Mahons Hotel with around 20 club members attending for plenty of dancing. The music and singing was great with a few guest artists who sang some lovely numbers. Complimentary plates of sandwiches, sausage rolls, cocktail sausages served up by the hotel were followed with apple crumble, custard and cream then rounded of with coffee or tea. It was a splendid spread! After that there was  plenty more dancing to work it all off. There were meals served in the hotel that evening along with more musical entertainment there, and in several other venues around the town.

Friday was rain, rain and then more rain but a few ventured into the town for the planned festivities to find that some events like the classic car parade were re-scheduled to Saturday. Most members simply socialised in our vans that night as there was no hall for entertainment but some managed to get into town where there was music and entertainment in many premises.

Saturday saw rain again with some vans understandably leaving for home early. Most stayed however despite the rain which had eased off by the afternoon allowing many to take the short walk into Irvinestown, some of us returning later where meals and refreshments were enjoyed in Molly's and  other establishments around the town. That evening Lesley, Paul, Sam & Andy organised a get-together under a trio of awnings with music, nibbles and gas heaters where we all enjoyed the craic.

Sunday morning was dry and several of the re-scheduled events took place amongst which there was the ‘Hole Digging’ contest where 38 inch holes were the dug at speed. Unpredictable weather meant there was no coffee morning and the meet finished at lunchtime on Sunday with many vans staying, parked around the town for the rest of the events that continued on. A very wet but totally enjoyable long weekend was had by all those who attended.  Thanks again to our hosts and assistants, Lesley, Paul, Sam and Andy.
