Rally at Londonderry 29th - 1st May having been cancelled, was replaced with a Meet, thanks to Selma, for arranging the weekend with Julie and the deal of buying 2 nights and getting 3rd and 4th nights on site at Antrim Steam Fair was very much appreciated.
Unfortunately, a few club members turned up without booking and they did not get in with their motorhomes/vans. There was a waiting list for cancellations, such was the interest. Perhaps members could speak with Selma re arranging a meet for next year. It turned out to be a mixed bag weather - wise for Antrim Steam Rally.
Friday, the sun shone and was hot and some did BBQ cooking!
Saturday was a motorhome “duvet” day as it rained all day! Some brave souls did go out walking or took motorhome away to shop elsewhere and some like me watched TV or read a book.
The steam fair rally did not start until the Sunday, and although cloudy the sun came out from lunchtime and some went to see all it had to offer.
Monday was much the same and visits to show continued. As can be seen from photos some members have already put on the FB page, activities included getting steam engine rides, falconry experiences, music shows, stalls and a craft marquee small animal farm, classic cars and tractors and lorries. Indeed, something for all ages. On the Monday the BBC ran a few shows from the main stage and Hugo Duncan was well received.
Saturday night Paul Kelly‘s band encouraged dancing and singing as did other artists before. I witnessed MCCNI members doing this but will only name them for a small fee! > Only joking!
The dates for next year’s Steam Fair have been confirmed as 30th April and 1st May 2023 for those wishing to put this in their next year’s diary.
