This was a new venue for our club and the college gave us a very warm welcome, it had an excellent location, an easy walk into town. Our hosts for the weekend were Hugh & Moira and Andy Clarke & Sam Arlow, unfortunately Sam was delayed somewhat in arriving and the very capable Jenny Dowie immediately stepped up to the mark volunteering to assist with the initial rush at the 5pm check in time, an excellent example of how our members work together to ensure the smooth running of the rallies.

A total of 32 vans attended, (including new members Derek & Shona, which was a good attendance despite the poor advance weather report forecasting heavy rain over the weekend. In fact, despite a few showers, some members even lit up the BBQ and some large steaks were devoured.

On Saturday night a large number of other members decided to book tables and take advantage of the excellent menu at “MARY’s” a well-known (for great food) local restaurant in the town centre.

Friday night was well attended and the Bingo was a great laugh with Hugh trying his hand at calling the numbers. Roy Dowie provided some well received music, which was enjoyed by all.

Saturday night with a very full hall, the music was provided by, the popular Dave Kane and some great moves were displayed on the dance floor. Despite the clock moving forward an hour on the Sunday and everyone losing an hour in bed, the coffee morning was well attended.

The weekend quiz took the form of six sudoku puzzles, which was won by Eleanor McFadden and Roy Dowie won the number plate draw. David Kyle-Ewing, our chairman delivered the bad news that the rally weekends fees would be increased from 1st May to £10 per night, the first increase in fees for quite a few years. The comment was made by Iris that as it wouldn’t be until 1st May, that would give us all time to “save up”, which brought some very loud laughter. The chairman also stated that the Portrush (North West 200) weekend needed to be pre booked ASAP as it was booking up fast. He then wished us all safe home and looked forward to our next rally, which will be the Easter five-night rally at the Model School in Enniskillen. Sam Arlow.
